It's not always about film.

I was contracted to design and construct a custom Art Deco Style bar and mirrors for the folks at Botanica. I have designed props for retail displays before, but this is the first time I've worked with a floral designer and event planner. It's exciting to work with creative people from other industries. As soon as I finish construction, I'll post some photos below.

Hard to find hospital.

We started with an everyday business lobby, added some set pieces and a lot of signage and we had a first class hospital. I just finished up a series of commercials for Heavybag Media, which required hospital scenes.

There's no place like home.

Five days after our first production meeting, we were up and rolling tape in three custom, full size room sets. As soon as the production meeting ended I started designing the set on the fly, between calls to crew and material suppliers. Meanwhile, Liz hit the road (and the phones) hard, trying to acquire needed props and set dressing. With the help from our friends at Tripeg Studios, the sets came together like clockwork.

We designed, constructed, and dressed a NYC loft, a formal family room, and a bedroom for a Toshiba TV commercial which features their large screen LCD TVs.

The 4th Annual Film Industry Mixer

I have been asked to assume the role of Production Designer for the Film Industry Mixer. This is my third year participating in this special event that supports and celebrates film and media in Connecticut.

On June 6th, hundreds of producers, writers, directors, crew, and talent with network and feature film credits gather in a comfortable atmosphere.  Enjoy beer, wine, food, VIP interviews, entertainment, and panels. Our talent showcase includes music, comedy, acting, and a fashion show.  The purpose of the event is to build our creative community by sharing resources, educating, and forming collaborations.

Off to Iraq without a passport

I just finished up a whirlwind project by constructing three Middle Eastern replica sets for "No Exit: The Lost Triangle" an independent film that follows 4 American soldiers that are captured, imprisoned and released during the Iraqi war. The film explores the relationships between an Iraqi family and the prisoners while they are held captive in the family's basement.

The sets were constructed on location in a Green Point warehouse. Designed by Alexios Chrysikos, the sets depict three rooms in an average Iraqi's family home.

Website is finally up and running.

About two years ago Liz and I were working on a commercial together and we decided to put together a website to showcase our art services. We had worked on so many projects together that it seemed natural that a producer would use both our services for their productions.

What a relief to have the site up and running!
